The Warren Reservoir Reserve will be partially closed to visitors on Tuesday 24 November, while National Parks and Wildlife Service SA (NPWSSA) access the reserve to help conduct a prescribed burn within the neighbouring Hale Conservation Park. The objective of this burn is to reduce fuel loads to mitigate the risk of bushfire.
During this time, there will be no access to areas west of the reservoir, including walking trails and the dam wall lookout. Several sections within the reserve will remain open, including the reservoir and kayaking launch areas, both carparks, all amenities and the truck stop access gate.
Some smoke and fire activity may remain visible in the area for several days, but the burn site will be patrolled by NPWSSA crews over this period.
We expect to fully reopen the reservoir reserve at sunrise on Wednesday 25 November.
You can find on here details of activities available at various reservoir reserves open around the state to enjoy, explore and preserve, and environment.sa.gov.au for more information on prescribed burns in South Australia.
